Twenty percent of the oxygen taken in by the body goes to the brain and 95% of that oxygen goes into grey matter.

I’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day in my own special way this coming weekend, when I plant tomatoes. When I read Jamsey Thomas’ blog about hobbies a few weeks ago, I wasn’t surprised to see gardening near the top of the list for people age 50-plus. I’m 50-plus, and I love gardening, especially vegetable gardening. But then, tomatoes and I go way back. I like to say that tomatoes put me through college.

Like the rest of the country, Indiana had a harsh, long winter filled with record-breaking snow from the Polar Vortex. Now spring is here and that bitter weather is a distant memory. Early spring has brought green grass, colorful flowers and a desire to get out of the house. It's time to enjoy outside activities!
